Club Management – Summer Intern

 

Looking to gain valuable, hands-on experience in Club Operations by learning from our top leaders? Join our Management Development Program (MDP) for Summer Interns where you will get exposure to Club Operations, including Merchandising, the Member Experience, , our growing Omni business, Team Member Engagement, Inventory & Asset Control, and Perishables. In this role you will rotate through the various departments in our clubs to learn the whole business. You will have the chance to connect leadership concepts to real life club scenarios and work in a club with a best-in-class General Manager all while participating in the MDP events such as coffee with our CEO, networking events with other interns, an end of summer project, and information sessions about different business units. In this role you will report to a Director, Regional Operations and be assigned a General Manager as a mentor. This role is a key pipeline opportunity on the path to a retail leadership role with us.

Job Summary

Responsible for working with our Club leaders to gain a deep understanding of our day-to-day operations, including Merchandising, Member Services, Omni, Team Member Engagement and Perishables and build skills to become an effective leader capable of leading a large, complex store. Serves as a leader by providing direction, oversight, and validation of company expectations and initiatives. Establishes efficiencies, maintains policies and procedures, delivers a positive service experience to Members, and ensures a positive and safe environment for Members and Team Members. 

 

 

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

  • Provides leadership and direction within the club.
  • Collaborates with other Managers to drive Team Member engagement, develop talent by coaching, teaching, and developing Team Members, assess Team Member performance and provide actionable feedback.
  • Evaluates departmental performance using company reporting programs and provides recommendations to maximize sales, profits, and performance.
  • Evaluates and ensures operational processes are consistently followed in the highly controlled areas of receiving, asset control, human resources, and cash office.
  • Continually monitors customer service levels and ensures a positive service experience is delivered to all Members.
  • Establishes operational efficiencies and productivity standards within the department and reviews budgets, plans and P&L to identify profit opportunities.
  • Maintains an understanding of club policies and procedures across all areas of the club.

 

Qualifications

  • Can-do attitude with a willingness to roll-up your sleeves and learn.
  • Interest in overall store operations.
  • Agility and flexibility in working with different leaders/team members and in different departments.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • People-focused, with positive leadership skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge (MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, Email) required.
  • At least 18 years of age.

Job Conditions

  • Most of the time is spent moving about frequently on hard surfaces. There may be a need to occasionally position oneself to examine or scan merchandise, including bending, handling, pulling, reaching, and/or stooping.
  • Frequently requires lifting objects up to 30 pounds. May require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects in excess of 30 pounds with assistance.
  • Located in a comfortable indoor area with frequent exposure to temperature extremes and loud noises. There may be occasional exposure to cleaning agents.
