Human Resources Manager – Multi Site

 

Job Summary

 

We’re hiring a Human Resource Manager with multi-site responsibility for our Madison Heights and Taylor, Michigan locations.   

 

Responsible for management and administration of Human Resource functions in two specified club locations. Administers programs, policies and procedures of the BJ's Human Resources Department. Accountable for leading and administering the hiring/onboarding processes to ensure excellent employee engagement, employee relations, execution of timely and accurate payroll, and relevant training.

 

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

  • Drives and supports employee engagement programs that will enhance the employee experience while enabling business success.
  • Guides, manages, and resolves employee relations issues by working closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Provides day-to-day guidance on coaching, counseling, individual development, succession planning, and performance management to Club management.
  • Drives and coordinates training programs/initiatives to support organizational needs, and to ensure all employees are trained and certified to perform their assigned duties.
  • Maintains close oversight of Club Human Resources functions.
  • Works closely with the Recruiting Center of Excellence to recruit and hire new employees.
  • Oversees new employee orientation and successful onboarding of new employees.
  • Provides direction, guidance and interpretation of HR policy.
  • Works with employees and management on conflict resolution and/or employee relations matters.
  • Oversees scheduling process for all hourly employees ensuring a productive workforce is available within budget guidelines.
  • Ensures accurate execution of club payroll.
  • Oversees the administration all personnel paperwork including completing and processing new hire paperwork, hourly wage increases, hourly promotions, terminations, worker's compensation and unemployment claims.
  • Conducts benefits orientations and oversees annual benefits open enrollment process.
  • Coordinates, selects and develops Club Human Resources personnel. 
  • Supervises and directs the activities of the human resources clerical.
  • Additional administrative tasks as required.
     

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; College degree in Human Resources Development, Human Resource Management, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of HR experience, preferably in a Retail environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience that gives the individual the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job.
  • Employee engagement, employee selection, and employee relations experience.
  • Ability to build and maintain trust-based, collaborative relationships and influence others
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including managing/supervising cross-functional teams, training employees and employee relations.
  • Proven experience managing multiple priorities, anticipating needs, and prioritization
  • Basic computer knowledge (MS Word, MS Excel, Email) required.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discernment and sensitivity
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Open availability required due to retail nature of the role.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Travel 100% between the two locations.
     

Job Conditions

  • Most of the time is spent moving about on hard surfaces. There may be a need to occasionally position oneself to sit, twist, lift, bend, pull, reach and move files or boxes.
  • Intermittent time sitting at computer workstation.
  • Sometimes requires lifting objects up to 30 pounds. May require having to position oneself to examine or scan merchandise, and/or lift and move heavy and/or awkward objects in excess of 30 pounds with assistance.
  • Located in a comfortable indoor area with frequent exposure to temperature extremes and loud noises. There may be occasional exposure to cleaning agents.
