The responsibility of the Director of Learning and Organizational Development is to lead the design, development and implementation of all organizational development and learning strategies across BJ’s corporate office.  This role will be required to establish trusted partnerships across multiple teams and provide thought leadership to help diagnose and consult on L&OD strategies to drive business outcomes. 

 

In partnership with HRBPs, this role will work collaboratively with each department, the talent management team and with the senior leadership team to build a learning strategy that achieves the desired company and department level outcomes.  Once the strategy is established the Director will work closely with the HRBP, the talent management team and the department leads to execute the plan which may include by not limited to the following:

 

    • Build transformation learning strategies to support the diverse learning and development needs of the organization
    • Understand the business drivers and organizational dynamics of each team to help diagnose and determine the root cause of organizational roadblocks
    • Become a trusted advisor and thought leader through effective performance consulting techniques and strategies
    • Conduct and act upon a detailed learning needs assessment
    • Support the output of the talent review and succession planning process to ensure leaders are being developed and prepared to take on additional responsibility and roles and measure progress
    • Integrate BJ’s core leadership behaviors into everyday practice across all teams while acting as a trusted advisor to support and coach leaders to ensure capabilities are applied and reinforced
    • Conduct organizational effectiveness diagnostics, facilitate new team integration and new manager assimilation sessions
    • Partner with multiple departments to identify learning gaps and build strategies to close gaps including partnering with internal and external resources to implement both functional and leadership training
    • Embed inclusion and diversity practices into everyday work
    • Ensures consistency in the delivery and application of training standards across the business and oversees the planning, prioritization, and development of new training programs and initiatives, ensuring that these programs and initiatives are consistent with the business overall strategies, objectives, and needs.

 

Job Requirements

  • 8-10 years L&OD experience
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge across the following: Organizational Development, Learning and Development, Leadership Assessments, Performance Consulting, Adult Learning Theory, Organization Effectiveness and Change Management
  • Demonstrates excellent consulting skills
  • Experience with executive coaching and development
  • Experience managing external vendor relationships
  • Experience working as an internal consultant in a matrixed organization is highly desirable
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with all level of the organization
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; the ability to interact and influence at all levels of the organization

  • Master’s degree (preferred)
