The Enterprise Cloud Architect is responsible for helping business leaders enable future-state business capabilities that drive the organization’s targeted business outcomes through a choice of programs, projects and initiatives. The Enterprise Cloud Architect must be capable of practically applying existing, new and emerging technologies to new and evolving business and operating models. They must be able to understand, monetize and operationalize new technologies.

What you will do:

  • Architect and provide technical direction for the microservices approach for cloud/SaaS and evangelize the cloud and microservice message and architecture within the development organization
  • Set architecture standards and practices affecting development of all new products as well as impacting existing ones. Develop these standards in coordination with peers in other divisions
  • Work with application teams to expedite the DevOps journey along with determining the appropriate tools that work best in AWS/DevOps to further our Agile progression such as infrastructure as code, continuous integration and automated deployment
  • Research new technologies, including hands-on technical evaluation and POCs. Objectively identify, evaluate and select technology platforms and tools that effectively enable technology transformation.
  • Review and evaluate new and existing architecture to ensure it meets standards; or for existing products perform application analysis to determine application readiness for Cloud adoption
  • Ensure resiliency, business continuity, disaster recovery and production support procedures are established and tested for critical cloud solutions.
  • Provide deep software development knowledge with respect to cloud architecture, design patterns and programming
  • Advising and implementing AWS best practices
  • Be part of a transformative, collaborative, focused and results oriented team
  • Provide technical advice and counsel to IT project teams in the design and support of major systems of the most complex nature and which have broad implications for the IT architecture.
  • Define future state vision and creates roadmaps, including technology lifecycle management.
  • Lead, build and implement global enterprise-wide reusable patterns, practices.
  • Provide technical advice and counsel to IT project teams in the design and support of major systems of the most complex nature and which have broad implications for the IT architecture.
  • Provide recommendations for investment in new products and technology solutions, supported by appropriate ROI, total cost of ownership, and/or cost benefit analyses.
  • Promote the architectural vision to IT colleagues, explaining the ultimate value to be achieved, and resolving conflicts between standardization and innovation.
  • Provide technical solutions to the business, leveraging their technical expertise, a broad understanding of the current and future application and infrastructure architectures. Play a leadership role in architectural planning.

 

Qualifications – what we are looking for:

  • Strong development and process methodology discipline expertise. The successful candidate will lead the definition and adoption of architecture engagement models and ALM best practices, while promoting and communicating their value proposition.
  • Depth of knowledge in architecture and an ability to translate business objectives into technology strategy. Proficient in multiple enterprise technologies, architectural styles, and techniques. Ability to quickly acquire skills. Previous experience in creating strategy and roadmaps and translating them into action plans is a plus.
  • Motivated by technology trends and can translate those trends into effective business applications
  • 5+ years of an application programming and/or Hands-on technical application architecture experience
  • 10+ years of experience in developing, architecting, deploying highly scalable distributed computer systems with 4+ years’ experience focused on Cloud and Microservices architecture.
  • Extensive experience architecting, designing and programming applications in an AWS Cloud environment
  • Experience with designing and building application using AWS services such as EC2, AWS Elastic Beanstalk, AWS OpsWorks
  • Hands on programing skills in any of the following: Python, Java, Node.js, Ruby, Powershell, Bash, Perl, CloudFormation, etc.
  • Experience with continuous integration tools (e.g. Bamboo/Jenkins)
  • Experience with configuration management platforms (e.g. Chef, Puppet, Salt, or Ansible)
  • A strategic thinker who can foster creativity and innovative thinking.
  • A strong influencer who can integrate effectively into the culture. Have the facilitation skills combined with a results orientation to foster ideas, analyze business opportunities and drive execution.
  • Organizational savvy with maturity to work effectively across different organizational units and business groups.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to lead cross-team collaboration and partnerships, while communicating to a variety of internal and external constituencies.
  • Previous experience in Cloud transformation
  • Deep understanding of system development in cloud environments
  • SaaS and/or IaaS experience required
  • Experience managing cross functional teams/vendors
  • Communicate clearly at multiple levels about functional and technical matters, have a strong point of view, enjoy healthy debate and are a good listener, have a persuasive professional manner, are influential and can help the business imagine the future
  • Experience working with and applying lean/agile/DevOps principles and systems thinking to business and technical problems
  • Experience working on evolutionary architecture problems – models, high level designs and epic/story decomposition
  • Bachelor’s or higher post-graduate degree, preferably in Computer Science or related field
  • Big data and/or analytics experience would be beneficial
