Network Security Engineer (Audit)



Under the Manager of Network Security, this role’s primary function is to audit all network equipment for changes and be the network security liaison for the entire network gear. This person will be responsible for developing standards, policies, SOPs for all network gear including switches, routers, telephony equipment and central policy management of those.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform security audits of routing and switching equipment configurations and policies
  • Perform audits of configurations of wireless controllers and access points
  • Work with Compliance team to create standards, SOPs for access, configurations and policy management for network and security gear
  • Assist coordinating with systems and network engineers to ensure network devices conform to security standards, and that security devices and controls are working as designed
  • Review and approve submitted network change requests for security compliance
  • Collaborating with offshore teams for additional resources where needed
  • Following SOPs for firmware upgrades, reviewing patch notes, keeping tabs on software releases for all responsible hardware
  • Creating vendor tickets, working with vendors and escalating when appropriate
  • Monitoring alerts and working ticket queues during downtime


  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Information Technology, with a concentration on Information Security
  • Bachelor's degree is required
  • 2 years of experience with hands-on network audits and developing hardening standards
  • 3 years of firewall experience is a must (Fortinet & Checkpoint preferred)
  • Experience with Aruba wireless, CISCO switching is a must
  • Knowledge of dynamic routing protocols (OSPF, BGP4, and EIGRP) and enterprise class switches-router management (Cisco 6509, Nexus 7000, 3560G, 3750G, 2800, 2900, 3800, 3900, 7200, and 7300 series), large scale switch fabric design, and configuration and management (6500 / Nexus series)
  • In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, IP Routing, MPLS, HSRP, VRRP, BGP4, OSPF, SSL VPN, QoS, RSA authentication, SNMP, POS, PPP, NAT/PAT, TACACS+, NAC, DS3, and OC-3/12 is essential
  • Thorough understanding of LAN Switching (L2 -L3) including VLANs, Private VLANs, Trunking, EtherChannel, VTP, and Spanning Tree
  • Good process-oriented thinking, ability to work with people, flexible and collaborative attitude is a must
  • Ability to get things done, being persuasive, consensus building across multiple teams is important
