The Manager of Procurement Operations is the leader of the procurement operations team for the Strategic Sourcing and Procurement organization (SS&P).  This manager will report to the Director of IT Sourcing and Procurement. The procurement organization is made up of the following areas of responsibility: Customer support, Procure-to-Pay administration, catalog file maintenance, contract enforcement and process improvement.  The procurement team is responsible for the execution and enforcement of the deals negotiated by the sourcing team.  It is the Manager of Procurement Operations that ensures all aspects of this team are exceeding the established standards and driving them to provide efficiency, service, value, and excellence to the entire BJ's organization.  This position will need to constantly evaluate the performance of the procurement team and processes that are in place to identify areas of opportunity.  This position will need to meet frequently with internal and external business partners to look for ways to improve the procurement process and identify ways to implement changes to add value to BJ's.  The Manager of Procurement Operations will be responsible for extracting feedback from procurement's internal customers to ensure their needs are being met.  This position will also play a key role in providing feedback to SS&P.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Provide direction and leadership to the procurement operations team to ensure they are all working to achieve the same goals.
  • Evaluate processes and procedures, implement changes in the process to improve efficiency, add value, and/or provide an improved customer experience.
  • Ensure the smooth transition of fully executed sourcing contracts from the sourcing team through to execution by the procurement team. 
  • Capture feedback from the internal customers related to service levels, products, and processes to help provide a picture on areas of opportunity.  Report this feedback to the entire SS&P team for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the procurement department remains compliant with company policies and procedures.
  • Support the strategic sourcing team with critical feedback from the internal customers to facilitate better sourcing and procurement decisions.
  • Manage procurement processes to be efficient, accurate, and with adequate controls.     
  • Support procurement training to all new employees; periodically review and refresh training materials and intranet site content as required.
  • Ensure the procurement team is utilizing contract pricing and terms on all purchase orders created.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices and controls regarding Sourcing & Procurement operations
  • Be self-directed, making decisions on priorities and order of tasks. Make adjustments for frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
  • Ability to provide clear and concise direction and instructions to staff and other departments. Assist with creation of end user training materials and standard operating procedures.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline (Supply Chain Management, Finance, Business Administration or Information Management) and/or demonstrates capability to perform job responsibilities through previous experience
  • 7+ years Sourcing or Procurement experience
  • Retail experience preferred
  • Management experience preferred

  • Experience with SAP, Ariba, Microsoft Office Suite; advanced Excel skills
