As the Sr. Data Analyst - Club Analytics you will be responsible for providing data-driven insights that identify and diagnose specific execution opportunities in both the field and corporate office. You will have high visibility to Club Operations leadership, including the EVP and SVPs of Operations, and cross-functional interactions with other senior leaders within the business.  This role requires an excellent collaborator, communicator, and analyst with extensive hands-on data experience. The successful candidate is a problem solver in a fast-moving and highly diverse environment and will be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring accuracy and timeliness are not compromised. In addition to strong data mining and analytical skills, the Analyst must be adept at building effective visualizations and communicating findings to senior leadership and business stakeholders across the organization in both verbal and presentation formats using KPIs and metrics that are meaningful to the business. 



Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities:

  • Build in-depth knowledge of BJ’s strategic priorities and club execution capabilities and processes as well as constructive relationships with senior leaders in Operations and other SMEs in the home office and field. 
  • Mine data using various tools ensuring data validation and integrity and build easily consumable data visualizations for end user stakeholders.
  • Perform value added ad-hoc analysis in support of Club Operations leadership and other key stakeholders to include developing reporting and dashboards to track execution success.
  • Analyze vast amounts of operational, financial, customer and product level data and make recommendations about improvements and opportunities for increasing sales and profit. Responsible for preparing analysis as well as presenting findings and recommendations.
  • Take the lead on Business problems to include identifying questions, forming hypotheses and determining the best analytical approach, getting beyond the facts and delivering insights that inform business decisions and drive improved performance.
  • Work closely with and effectively communicate with all key business stakeholders across Operations, IT, Finance, Marketing, Pricing and Site Development to continuously improve the internal and external processes and tools to include reporting and user Dashboards.



  • 4-6 years of finance, analytics, predictive modeling and/or reporting experience, preferably in a Retail environment with an understanding of key financial metrics and sales mechanics (gross sales, net sales, margin, waste, profit).
  • BA/BS in Finance, Statistics, Economics, Business or other related quantitative field. MBA or Master’s degree with focus on analytics preferred.
  • Demonstrated strong proficiency at an advanced level in Microsoft Excel (Excel w/ Macro’s, Access) and PowerPoint.
  • Expert in various data mining techniques and effective visualizations. Hands on experience with complex SQL queries and Tableau development. Alteryx, Tableau Prep or other data mining and statistical software knowledge preferred.
  • Pro-active and self-motivated work style with proven ability to collaborate broadly with flexible, positive attitude to get results within a cross-functional team.
  • Strong strategic, analytical and critical thinking skills; strong bias towards data-based decision making with the ability to break down complex problems and formulate plans.
  • Strong Project Management skills coupled with interpersonal and presentation ability with demonstrated experience in fact-based analysis, including the ability to persuasively present insights and recommendations to senior management.
