This CEO sponsored and fully funded team is looking for strong analytical leaders who can turn insights into action. 

In this newly created role, the Vice President, Merchant Analytics will be responsible for one of the 3 strategic pillars of the Enterprise Analytics Team. Reporting directly to the EVP Enterprise Analytics, we are looking for a leader who will take a data-driven approach in the formulation, integration and execution of our core retail merchandise and services strategies to drive growth. 


  • Lead a dedicated insight’s driven organization in partnership with the company’s most senior leaders to drive revenue and profit growth across all the company’s businesses including merchandise assortment, space productivity, category sourcing and cost support, and omni channel mix support.
  • Develop and implement a robust internal category review process that works closely with key stakeholders to enhance revenue growth strategies within our merchandise and services businesses.
  • Leverage current and future business requirements, market intelligence, consumer insights and historical spend information to develop innovative category strategies that drive revenue growth meeting the evolving needs of our member base.
  • Use disparate internal and 3rd party data sources to bring robust category insights to internal key stakeholders. Data sources includes BJ’s membership data, 3rd party syndicated data from IRI, Nielsen, and NPD, Aimia Kantar and space management and assortment tools. Leads and manages these 3rd party insights teams and providers.
  • Provide high level pallet productivity and space management insights evaluating assortment opportunities for revenue optimization and space efficiency
  • Partner with merchandising to create a category profitability strategy that will drive product cost reduction, a simplified assortment and supply base, and enables value for both company and member base
  • Drive continuous profit improvements across categories and charged with providing fact-based and data-driven guidance to Divisional Merchandise leaders in selecting vendors, brands, and SKUs that result in increased sales and profit.


  • Proven track record of growing and developing a high performing team that works in partnership with the most senior merchandise and business leaders of company
  • Merchandise category management leadership experience within retail or CPG focused on influencing leaders.
  • Experience transforming disparate data sources and insights into strategic plans focused on executing for growth
  • Expert in retail and CPG technologies and tools including syndicated data sources, assortment and space planning capabilities, and other consumer insight tools
  • Strong retail, financial and analytical acumen to make strategic recommendations
  • Proficient in advanced excel, power point access, and syndicated data knowledge
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience. MBA preferred
  • Must be able to communicate findings from complex analyses to non-technical and senior leadership audiences
  • Minimum of 10 - 15 years of business experience; 5 or more years of experience leading a team either directly or cross functionally.
